"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." - Winston Churchill
our mission
The Rush Democratic committee is looking for registered Democrats who have a sincere interest in the political structure in the Town of Rush. We need men and women who are willing to work with the Democratic Party for the betterment of the entire community.

dear rush residents,

Our 2011 campaign made a very positive impact, not only for the residents in Rush, but for many others in our region.  All of the races were very close, and while all of our local candidates were not successful in winning their seats, they contributed to their community in immeasurable ways, bringing important issues to the voters.

We congratulate Dan Woolaver on his successful win as Town Council member. We now have two Democrats on the Council --  Dan and Lisa Sluberski.  We know that they will work in a bipartisan way  to promote constructive changes in how the council runs.  They will help make our council meetings more open, and more responsive to residents.  Our success in gaining one more seat on the town council will help to make our council discussions more balanced, and they will bring forward more of the concerns and issues of residents, and represent many residents who have felt left-out.

Voter Turnout: It is noteworthy that 49% of all registered voters came out to vote in Rush – the highest turnout in Monroe County.  Many reported that they switched party-lines for the first time in their lives.  The close race for supervisor was noted throughout our region as an example of  how important it is to get out the vote, and that “every vote counts”.  The closeness of all the races serves as a reminder of how challenging and how important it is to be able to effectively reach out, engage and inform every voter.

We ran a very positive, dynamic, and engaging campaign.  Our campaign helped to bring attention to many long-standing unresolved issues that are important to our community’s future, including:

  • Zoning
  • Appropriate Use of the Newly acquired 300+ acres
  • Open Government
  • Fiscal Accountability
  • Main Street Revitalization
  • Community Engagement

Our efforts helped many voters recognize that they have a voice and can push successfully for change.

Looking forward our town will have a new town supervisor, and two new council members. We are committed in supporting our new town leadership and vigilant in encouraging them to keep their campaign promises and in achieving a more open, transparent, and accountable town government.

We will continue to reach out to all town residents to help make sure they are informed and engaged in town issues.  We welcome all residents to be engaged in both the Democratic Committee as well as the Open Rush Government Party.  Together we will continue to be strong advocates, bring forward key issues of concern, and encourage every Rush resident to take an active part in their local, regional, state and national campaigns.

For more information on the Democratic Party and the Open Rush Government Party please contact Dave Sluberski.

Open Rush Government Party:
Election Day Tuesday November 8, 2011

Message from Dave Sluberski: The Rush Democratic Committee is pleased to announce their endorsement of three terrific candidates who are ready to serve the residents of Rush. Each candidate is highly qualified and will work vigorously for positive improvements in our town. They are united in their commitment to active participation, effective communication, and open government. They will keep you informed and engaged, and together we will revitalize and reenergize our community.

As you get to know our three candidates over the next few months, I’m sure that you will agree that each one will be an excellent, accessible, thoughtful and dependable leader for our town. You can read more about the candidates in the full posting here.

We welcome your involvement in the campaign and encourage your active participation. We invite you to distribute brochures, flyers, post yard signs, and sponsor neighborhood talks, as well as neighborhood canvassing. Please contact me or one of the candidates for more information and to volunteer.
